Gather onboard to see the breathtaking Northern lights on an unforgettable Northern Lights cruise. Our Southbound Tromso to Trondheim cruise is perfect for people who want to see the mesmerising Northern Lights on holiday, but only have time for a short break. The Southbound Voyage departs from the vibrant city of Tromsø, and then travels south to the Viking Capital of Trondheim. As the Northern Lights Cruise meanders past the Vesterålen and Lofoten Islands you will witness the regions epic landscape of snow-capped peaks and rugged scenery.
During the evenings gaze into the sky which will hopefully be illuminated by breathtaking colours of pink, green and blue. The phenomenal Northern Lights are often referred to as one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and will no doubt be the highlight of your short break if you see them.
The Northern Lights cruise ends in the medieval city of Trondheim. On your arrival you will be transferred to the airport, or if your departure is later you are given a sightseeing tour of this fascinating city. On the city tour you will see the 18th century Stiftsgården Palace and the magnificent 14th century Nidaros Cathedral – which is considered to be one of the best Gothic buildings in Northern Europe.
Day 1 -
Fly from UK to Tromsø

Depart the UK on a flight to Tromsø, on arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. An evening meal will be provided before you are transferred to your Northern Lights cruise at midnight.

Days 2 to 3 -
Enjoy the voyage

As your Northern Lights cruise journeys south to the Viking Capital of Trondheim you will meander past spectacular fjords and majestic craggy peaks. During the evenings gather on board where if you are lucky you will see a dazzling display of the Aurora Borealis, which are more visible at sea because you are away from the artificial lights.

Day 4 -
Arrive Trondheim early
|
Your cruise arrives in the metropolitan city of Trondheim early in the morning. Guests with late departures are given a guided sightseeing tour around this vibrant city (selected departures only) before being transferred to the airport for international flights.

DEPARTURES. The Itinerary shown here applies to selected departures from London Gatwick. Saturday departures from London Gatwick include dinner at a hotel in Tromso before boarding the ship. London Heathrow departures also include the dinner as well as a sightseeng tour of Trondheim before the return flight. SPECIAL OCCASIONS. NEW YEAR. Travel on board the MS Finnmarken on 30 December for our New Year voyage. A New Year's dinner will be served followed by music. VALENTINE'S DAY. Depart on 12 or 13 February and spend Valentine's Day in Norway. You will have the option to join a romantic dog sledge excursion.
PLEASE NOTE: The Nordlys-Northern Lights or the Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon and due weather conditions cannot be guaranteed. To Maximise your chances of seeing the Northern Lights, you can arrange for a wake up call if the are spotted by the Bridge during the night.
