The resort of Iso Syöte is tucked away in central Finland, occupying the southernmost fells and encompassed by the pristine wilderness of the Syöte National Park. It is the ideal place for a winter adventure week in Finland, as its hills, plains, forests and frozen lakes create a playground for a variety of snow-based outdoor activities. During the course of your adventure week in Finland, you can try snowmobiling, kicksledding, husky sledding, snowshoeing, a reindeer sleigh ride and much more. Beginners needn’t worry, as full instructions and equipment are provided by the helpful guides.

Your accommodation for your adventure week in Finland is in one of the rustic log cabins at the Iso Syöte Hotel. Each cabin offers terrific views across the snow-dusted countryside, and the log fire and private sauna are a welcome sight when you return from a day enjoying the outdoors. The log cabins have fully equipped kitchenettes, but there is also a superb restaurant at the hotel, which serves delicious, high quality meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, made with locally sourced ingredients. The Iso Syöte Hotel offers one of the best winter activity breaks in Finland and it will be even more memorable if the Northern Lights appear.

    You will be collected from the airport and transferred to the Iso Syöte Hotel, where you can settle into your cosy log cabin and make use of your own personal sauna.

  • Day 2 - Snowmobile Safari

    Snowmobile Safari

    Today on your adventure week in Finland, there is a snowmobile safari to the wilderness to look forward to. Taking up to 3 hours, you will get the opportunity to really appreciate the beauty of the Syöte National Park in wintertime. There is a rest stop in the wilderness, where hot drinks and pulla can be enjoyed.

  • Day 3 - Kicksledding Excursion

    Kicksledding Excursion

    After a leisurely morning, embark on a kicksledding excursion with a local guide, who will teach you how to control the sled. Once the technique is mastered, you are sure to have plenty of fun with your kicksled as you explore the area surrounding the hotel.

  • Day 4 - Free Day and Northern Lights Safari

    Free Day and Northern Lights Safari

    Today on your adventure week in Finland, you can spend the day at leisure. Perhaps borrow snowshoes from the hotel or check out the ski resort. When darkness draws in, take to your snowmobile and head out into the wilderness with your guide to see if you can spot the Northern Lights casting their eerie glow over the snow-covered landscape.

  • Day 5 - The Husky Sledding Experience

    The Husky Sledding Experience

    After breakfast we head to the local husky farm. Learn about the importance of these friendly canines before assembling them into pairs and attaching the sled. Your guide will teach you how to ‘mush’ the pack of dogs and then you will set off on a 12km excursion across the glistening, white plains on this three hour tour. If three hours will these incredible creatures doesn't sound like enough though, you can choose to extend this excursion and enjoy an unforgettable five hours in their company, practicing the skills of a husky musher!   • Day 6 - Traditional Reindeer Sleigh Ride

    Traditional Reindeer Sleigh Ride

    Head to a nearby reindeer farm, where you can discover more about how these animals are important for transport, food and keeping warm in the cold climate. Afterwards, enjoy a reindeer sleigh ride through the snowy countryside.

  • Day 7 - Free day

    Free day

    Spend the final day of your adventure week in Finland as you wish, perhaps head to the ski resort for cross country or downhill skiing, or borrow snowshoes from the hotel. There may also be an opportunity to try ice fishing in the frozen lake, or you might like to take a journey to one of the nearby towns.

  • Day 8 - Departure


    Today your adventure week in Finland concludes. After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight.

Accommodation - Hotel Iso-Syöte

Ideally located on top of a 1,400 foot fell, this friendly and relaxed hotel offers fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding area and easy access to the adjacent slopes. All 30 double rooms offer private facilities and satellite TV with non-smoking and allergy rooms available. After a day’s winter activities the swimming pool and saunas are great places to relax. The main restaurant offers excellent meals and dance music. There is also a pleasant lounge bar and a small nightclub.


A very popular choice is to stay in one of the hotel’s traditional rustic cabins located 300 yards from the main building. Built from silver pine logs, these cosy cabins are usually covered in snow during winter creating a true picture postcard atmosphere for an authentic Lapland experience. The cabins sleep up to four people with a double bedroom, living room with sofa beds and open fireplace, sauna, shower, toilet, porch and kitchen with crockery, refrigerator, coffee maker and oven. Guests can use all the facilities of the hotel.
