  • Day 2 - Tour of Reykjavík and Borgarfjörður Saga Valley

    You will be led by an experienced tour guide to many of the capital’s highlights before heading to Borgarfjörður Saga Valley in the west of the island. Visit an Icelandic wool shop, climb up the side of the Grábrók volcanic crater and discover the boiling hot natural spring at Deildartunguhver. Close by, you will see the gushing falls of Hraunfossar and Barnafoss. When we reach Reykholt, where we spend the following two nights, we will learn all about the mystifying Northern Lights in an interesting lecture. We then go on a guided tour after dinner to find the colourful Aurora Borealis in Iceland, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.

  • Day 3 - Fjord Cruise and Snæfellsnes Peninsula

    Fjord Cruise and Snæfellsnes Peninsula

    The protruding peninsula of Snæfellsnes can be found on the west coast, at the foot of an extensive chain of mountains. Explore Stykkishólmur and its quaint harbour, and enjoy lunch on board as we cruise along the Breiðafjörður fjord. On return to the town, stroll around the distinctive wooden buildings and engross yourself in their Icelandic charm. We then continue to Bjarnarhöfn, where the delicacy Hákarl is made from fermented shark. Travel back to Reykholt through the bumpy lava fields and along the scenic coast where there are many photograph opportunities. Stopping at Borgarnes en route, either take a trip to the Settlement Centre or relax in the warm waters of the geothermal pool. In the evening, your guide will give you expert advise on how to photograph the breathtaking Northern Lights displays. Make the most of these new skills as you chase the Aurora Borealis in Iceland tonight before returning to unwind in the hotel’s outdoor hot tubs.

  • Day 4 - Tour of the Golden Circle

    Tour of the Golden Circle

    Today your trip to the Aurora Borealis in Iceland holds plenty of surprises in store as we head for the country's most celebrated sites, which are collectively known as the Golden Circle. The journey along Hvalfjörður fjord is a stunning route to take to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Þingvellir National Park. Next, we continue to the golden waterfalls of Gullfoss, which tumble into the Hvítá River below. The final destination on the Golden Circle tour is the Geysir area, where hot springs bubble and erupt into powerful jets of boiling water. Here, the chef from the Geysir Restaurant will let you sample delicious fresh bread, boiled eggs and herring, which are cooked over the hot springs. Before we head to South Iceland, learn about the unique Icelandic horse and wander around a geothermal greenhouse. Once night falls, embark on another trip to hunt the Aurora Borealis in Iceland.

  • Day 5 - Waterfalls, Glaciers and Eyjafjallajökull Volcano

    Waterfalls, Glaciers and Eyjafjallajökull Volcano

    Experience the wonders of the south coast, beginning with the mighty glacier and active volcano at Eyjafjallajökull, gaining a greater insight into their natural history at the Information Centre. Moving on to Skógafoss, where the country’s most remarkable waterfall dominates the landscape, we see the pretty turf houses and wander around the local folk museum. In the afternoon we explore the fascinating black lava beach at Reynisfjara beach and walk along to incredible bird cliffs. The next two nights will be enjoyed at Vatnajökull National Park, which plays host to the largest glacier in Europe. Every opportunity is taken on the tour to search for the Aurora Borealis in Iceland and Vatnajökull offers exceptional opportunities for a sighting so keep an eye on the sky during your stay here!

    Today on the escorted tour of Iceland, there is a wealth of frozen delights to explore. Walk across the black sand beach and keep your eyes open for seals at the Jökulsárlón lagoon which is strewn with icebergs. Enjoy the afternoon at Vatnajökull National Park, exploring the mountains and glacier. There will be a Northern Lights presentation in the evening, leaving you plenty of time to lie in wait for the Aurora Borealis in Iceland.

  • Day 7 - South Shore and the Blue Lagoon

    The South Shore of Iceland is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful areas on this Aurora Borealis tour. Spectacular basalt pillars, waterfalls, lava beaches and inviting shoreline villages are just some of the eye-catching scenery that make up today’s excursion. Returning to Reykjavík for the final night of the tour, you have one last chance to comb the darkened sky for the Aurora Borealis over Iceland. Perhaps the pastel curtains of light will appear as you bathe in the steamy waters of the Blue Lagoon.
